Exactly When Apple Will Launch iPhone 16 And iPhone 16 Pro

 Apple updated July 18 with further information on production schedules which affect and clarify release date details, plus pre-order information.

Apple will launch the iPhone 16 series later this year. But exactly when? Apple won’t say anything for weeks, but we can pin things down pretty accurately. Here’s everything you need to know, from when Apple will announce the keynote, to when the keynote will be, down to the minute it will start, to when the iPhones will go on sale.

As Tech Radar points out, earlier this year as recently as May, production of the new iPhones seemed to be bang on schedule, which significantly helps when it comes to pinning down the release date. By this time in previous years, we’ve heard when Apple was behind or when elements in the production were causing issues. This year, either everything’s going swimmingly or Apple has hidden any pickles behind the scenes. Let’s presume things are going well. This also sheds light on when pre-orders will open.

The keynote seems certain to be in the first half of September, and will fall on either a Tuesday or Wednesday as usual. That means we can immediately narrow the date for the unveiling down to three days: Tuesday, September 3, Wednesday, September 4 or Tuesday, September 10. Apple has never held a keynote on September 11 and I don’t see that changing this year.More

The second full week of September is Apple’s preference but there’s another reason why the earlier dates are out of the picture: IFA.

If you don’t know, IFA is the mammoth technology show held each year in Berlin usually in the last days of August. This year, though, it runs from September 6 to 10.

Apple doesn’t attend IFA, but it may not want to hold its event at the same time—though it also likes to draw attention away from it, it seems, by confirming its own even just as IFA gets going.

That seems to confirm Tuesday, September 10 as the day of the keynote, as IFA is winding down. I believe that’s the day of the unveiling, with the release date a little later.

There will be four iPhones in the new series, it seems, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. I believe all will go on sale on the same day and I think that will be the Friday of the week after the unveiling, that is, Friday, September 20.

These things could still change, but I’m quietly confident. Mark your calendars.
